Wedding Guide: The Bride

For the woman of the hour I decided to focus on fantasy dresses. A little dramatic (I do have a flair for the drama), a little over the top, but all unbelievably spectacular! I love the lace, head pieces, bows, beads and all the other details these dresses have. A little practical advice to go along with the fantasy dresses. When shopping for your wedding dress it is important to try on styles that work with your body type, don’t get stuck on an idea in your head because the dress that will be the most fabulous is the one that looks good on your figure! Also try not to go with a dress that is too trendy because you want to look back on your pictures in 10, 20, 30 years and still love your dress! Lastly, it is important to go with a dress that reflects your style and who you are so you feel comfortable and confident. Confidence is after all the most important accessory! Here are the 10 gowns that made our fantasy wedding dress guide. I LOVE them all!

Pot Luck

Does anyone else feel like this seasons trends have left them in an absolute tailspin? I feel like I have been running around in fashion circles trying to make sense of it all! There are prints paired back to more prints, art deco influences, colored everything, cutouts, sheer options, pleats, pastels, lace, florals, boho maxis and color blocking. Basically every trend and style known to man in the last 5 years is a must-have. Is there even enough days in the summer to accomplish it all?

This season will be endearingly referred to by moi, as “Pot Luck” from here on out. Just like at your great aunt’s hodgepodge “dinner parties,” (who you have never been quite sure how you are even related) everything goes. So have at it!

To help make sense of it all I have chosen some inspiration pieces for a fashionable “pot luck” summer soiree.

Marc Jacobs may in fact be secretly laughing at us all.

Going Green

I waited intentionally until after St Patty’s day to write this post because this year green does not end with our favorite Irish holiday. Green of all hues is a big trend that started appearing on the spring runways and then was all over the runways for fall. Green has shown up on every wardrobe piece from dresses, to denim, to gorgeous blouses. The good news is many shades of green work well for both blondes with fairer skin and olivey brunettes. It can be paired with silver or kicked up a notch with gold accessories. Wear it back to denim, black, white, or for a true statement, pair it with coral or mustard. Here are some of my favorite “green” looks to give you some ideas of shades and pairings, all courtesy of Shop Bop.

Jump Around

The ever allusive perfect jumpsuit. So many factors go into this piece. Is it too long, too short, too baggy, too tight? Jumpsuits are still big for spring so finding the perfect one whether it be in a print or solid is a must! For an easy day time look, a wide leg jumpsuit with an embellished sandal is a great option. You can pair that same jumpsuit with a high wedge or heel for evening or opt for a jumpsuit with skinny legs (full length or cropped) and show off those stilettos! The jumpsuit is one of my favorite wardrobe options because it has the ease of a dress (no need to scramble for a top) yet it has a chic edge to it. Grab a fun earring or some layering necklaces and you are out the door!

To The Max

Just arrived in Beirut, Lebanon and this city is all about fashion and glamour! It’s packed with amazing restaurants, nightly hotspots, fabulous shops, and even more fabulously dressed women. The women in Beirut are effortlessly chic and always impeccably dressed. My motto for Beirut, it’s culture, it’s people is: “To The Max” everything here is done to the 9′s. No detail in an outfit, a restaurant, or a club is left undone. This theme leaves me with maxi skirts on the brain. They are showing up in gorgeous colors, prints and fabrics this season. They are the perfect piece to create that effortlessly chic look whether you’re in a bustling city, by the beach, or lunching with friends.

Wearing a maxi skirt and a silk blouse I am getting ready to hit the boutiques and see where this fashion city is headed. I am so looking forward to being reinvigorated by the energetic and creative pulse that is Beirut. When I must leave this city it’s always fashionably inspired and re-energized, so stay tuned, posts to follow are sure to be enlightened, “To the Max.”

Show Stopper

Award season is in full swing and overall I wasn’t blow away by the Golden Globe styles (except Charlize Theron who looked stunning in Dior). However, come the SAG awards on Sunday I was much more inspired. 4 totally different looks in particular really captured my attention. They were perfectly put together, perfect for the woman wearing it, and all around award winning!

Rose Byrne in Elie Saab: absolutely show stopping

Emily Blunt in Oscar De La Renta: perfect fit and perfect color for her

Ashlee Simpson in Jenny Packham: perfect hair, accessories and make-up with this dress

Giuliana Rancic in Basil Soda: simply fabulous

Spring Trend #2 – floral dresses. Feminine and flirty they are perfect for when the days get longer. Dress them up with a great wedge or dress them down with a beautiful jeweled sandal or ballet flat. Throw a denim jacket or a cardigan over for those early spring days and nights and you are good to go!

In Vogue

As soon as I discovered these photos I just about fell off my chair. This is hands down one of the best editorials I have EVER seen. So romantic, exotic, and just drop dead GORGEOUS! And the wardrobe….there are no words.

I hope they inspire you just as much.
