Designer Profile: Halston

One of the biggest names in American fashion launched in the 1960′s and still going strong today. The Halston brand is well known for its elegance, glamor, use of fabrics and innovation. Halston himself was always on the forefront. He was the first designer to travel with his collection to the show, designed the first hat ever featured in Harper’s Bazaar, was the first designer to ever turn windows and mannequins into pop art, and the first to ever have a namesake luxury boutique in a department store. Aside from these facts revealing so much about who Halston the man was, they tell how much the brand is a reflection of his forward thought and innovative spirit. The collection this fall is no different.

Designer Profile- 3.1 Phillip Lim

Hands down one of my favorite lines, 3.1 Phillip Lim is accessible, sophisticated, and elegant…with an edge. Known for mixing materials: lace, leather, sequin, and other embellishments adorn his pieces. Best of all the fit is amazing! Anything in the collection can be dressed up or down and can work for so many occasions. I love buying and recommending this line because you get so much mileage out of it in your closet! It takes a real talent to manage perfect fit using different fabrications and all the while staying stylish, relevant, and on trend yet classic. The collection does all this, and the end result when wear your best Phillip Lim? A look that is effortlessly cool and classically chic!

Designer Profile- Andrea Lieberman- A.L.C.

Since the launch of Andrea Lieberman’s (celebrity stylist turned fashion designer) line, A.L.C., I have had my eyes on it/purchased it season after season. Seems remiss to use the term “basics” to describe it, but she always has that staple piece you need to complete your outfits. What separates her from the rest of the “wear anywhere” is her pieces all have that effortlessly chic and refined look to them. From jersey dresses, to trousers, to cool t-shirts, her line has “the basics” done with the flair and creativity she brings her to styling.

A mix of product from Shopbop and Net-A-Porter.

Spring Forward

It always blows my mind that we are in fall and yet designers at New York Fashion Week just showed Spring 2012. However, I love seeing the photos, reading the editorials and hearing the buzz come back because inevitably they provide great inspiration for fall dressing. The designer’s collections always build on the previous season so as a savvy shopper and a woman of style  it is important to keep looking forward and be a few steps ahead. The collection I found most inspiring and powerful was DKNY. From her back drop to the jaw dropping looks that came down one after the other, it was perfection.

Your Fall Face

Now that your closet is full of your fall must haves: statement fur, bright colors, a chunky heel, cord bell bottoms, anything in bordeaux and anything in leather, don’t forget about your most important asset…your face! Rich, bold hues translated from ready to wear straight to the makeup counters. The word is Glam. Rich lip sticks, smokey lids with bright colors, and a bold nail polish will perfectly finish off your fall outfits. Here are my favorite looks courtesy of www.neimanmarcus.com
