Pot Luck

Does anyone else feel like this seasons trends have left them in an absolute tailspin? I feel like I have been running around in fashion circles trying to make sense of it all! There are prints paired back to more prints, art deco influences, colored everything, cutouts, sheer options, pleats, pastels, lace, florals, boho maxis and color blocking. Basically every trend and style known to man in the last 5 years is a must-have. Is there even enough days in the summer to accomplish it all?

This season will be endearingly referred to by moi, as “Pot Luck” from here on out. Just like at your great aunt’s hodgepodge “dinner parties,” (who you have never been quite sure how you are even related) everything goes. So have at it!

To help make sense of it all I have chosen some inspiration pieces for a fashionable “pot luck” summer soiree.

Marc Jacobs may in fact be secretly laughing at us all.

Spring Forward

It always blows my mind that we are in fall and yet designers at New York Fashion Week just showed Spring 2012. However, I love seeing the photos, reading the editorials and hearing the buzz come back because inevitably they provide great inspiration for fall dressing. The designer’s collections always build on the previous season so as a savvy shopper and a woman of style  it is important to keep looking forward and be a few steps ahead. The collection I found most inspiring and powerful was DKNY. From her back drop to the jaw dropping looks that came down one after the other, it was perfection.

Plaid Brings a Classic Vibe Down the Runways

Separates have come back in a big way this year so what is more fun then to mix and play with textures and prints on top and bottom? The fall runways this year were littered with plaid and houndstooth, as layering pieces, jackets, skirts, pants, scarves, you name it and those prints were in! My favorite look was from DKNY but Rag and Bone and LAMB were close behind!DKNY Fall Fashion Week New York 2011
